Legal Aid implies giving free legal services to the poor and needy who cannot afford the services of a lawyer for the conduct of a case or a legal proceeding in any court, tribunal or before an authority.
A Legal Aid Training for the Homeless in Chennai was organised by ICWO and ActionAid India Chennai Region on 29th September 2011.
The training started with four guests from a different background. Mr.Devaneyan Thozhamai, Dr.M.Annadurai Director Scope International, Ms.B.S.Ajitha Advocate Chennai High Court and P.Selvaraj Advocate Notary Public and Commissioner of Oaths,, Madras High Court.
The Director of ICWO Mr.A.J.Hariharan gave a welcome note on the legal aid training for the homeless community in Chennai. He said that that these kinds of legal aid trainings will ensure basic human right protection particularly for the homeless community.
Mr.Devaneyan gave a clear idea of law and the evolution of laws at different periods of Indian Era. The Supreme Court guidelines by the Supreme Court were shared by Dr.M.Annadurai for the homeless community.
Ms.B.S.Ajitha Advocate Chennai high court explained briefly about the women rights and housing rights which we felt is necessary for the homeless community.
